Anahita Salarian is a painter working between Tehran and Amsterdam. Her practice moves between large oil canvases and smaller works on paper, circling the same set of questions about memory, migration and the way a place keeps changing after you leave it. She studied painting at the University of Tehran and continued at the Rietveld Academie, where she began the series of layered, half-erased interiors that her recent work grew out of. Colour arrives late in her process: a canvas is built up in greys over several weeks before anything warm is allowed in. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in Tehran, Rotterdam and Berlin, and is held in a number of private collections. She is currently preparing a solo exhibition for 2027.
